Tattoo Aftercare

Remove bandage in approx. 3 hours. Gently wash your tattoo with a clean cloth and warm water, no soap and remove any blood or discharge.Pat dry with a clean cloth, don’t rub. Do not re-bandage, but let the tattoo breathe. Check your tattoo every few hours for the next 24hrs, washing your tattoo again if it has crusted over. Do nothing else but wash your tattoo (if needed) for the first 24 hours.

After 24 hours stop washing your tattoo and you can then start to apply a small amount of an aftercare product. I recommend an organic salve, made locally in Nelson but, you can use any type of unscented moisturizing lotion/oil, best (if applicable) to use a brand you already use, as you already know that it works for you. (NOT POLYSPORIN or any petroleum based product) You want to apply a very, very, small amount of the product by first dispersing it into clean hands, then rubbing it lightly into your tattoo, let it soak in. Only 1 to 2 times per day, no more.

Remember you want to let your tattoo breathe. Keep your tattoo clean from dirt and dry now. Avoid touching your tattoo without washing your hands first. No soaking in water or swimming, avoid the sun. Apply the product everyday for 2 weeks. If after applying product to your new tattoo your tattoo starts to weep, you develop redness or red bumps or a thicker scab starts to form, you are applying too much product.
VERY IMPORTANT!!! If you apply too much product you will lose colour.

In 3 to 5 days your new tattoo will start to peel and colour will flake off like a sunburn would. Do not pick off the skin or you will lose colour. Usually it will heal for most in about 7 to 10 days, 2 weeks maximum.

Enjoy your new art!
Thank You!
